Sares Regis' Little Tokyo Apartments Breaks Ground in Downtown Los Angeles

Downtown Los Angeles, already in the midst of a building boom, can add yet another residential apartment building to the "under construction," list.

As of earlier this week, Sares Regis' Little Tokyo Apartments have broken ground at the corner of 2nd and San Pedro.  The building is set to include 240 residential units in a seven story building featuring 17,000 square feet of ground floor retail.  The building was designed by Thomas Cox Architects, who seem to be responsible for many of the current low rise buildings under construction in the neighborhood

The lot is currently fenced off and covered in green tarp.

Asphalt has been stripped away, with heavy equipment on site.

Sares Regis' project is next door to Avalon Bay's under construction AVA Little Tokyo, a two-building six story development.  AVA Little Tokyo will bring 280 market rate apartments in a building (surprise surprise) also designed by Thomas Cox Architects.
