Metro is starting 2 BRT proposals (BRT is their preferred mode based on earlier statements from the people involved in the study) so they invented another rail mode as to not tip their hand. LRT is the locally preferred mode.irwinchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09175879445715413526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3857633056849153171.post-29864750919256984452014-11-17T17:35:41.995-08:002014-11-17T17:35:41.995-08:00Hoping for light rail, but its clear that more loc...Hoping for light rail, but its clear that more local funding will be needed.

I'm also not sure why the tram is even up for consideration. It offers the same speed as the BRT alternatives, but at more than double the cost. Maybe if they want it to be some sort of economic driver for the Van Nuys corridor, but that shouldn't be the main goal.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10939514266523110682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3857633056849153171.post-45618735197489730262014-11-17T15:26:21.524-08:002014-11-17T15:26:21.524-08:00I hope lightrail is the mode that Metro decides to...I hope lightrail is the mode that Metro decides to move forward, which will make extension south thru Sepulveda Pass much easier. The low floor tram is ok but we already have a system of high floor lightrail in LA so kind of pointless to start a new incompatible mode.irwinchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09175879445715413526noreply@blogger.com
